After landing on shore, Crusoe spent the night up in a tree with a branch for protection. According to the description given by the Defoe, it is possible that the tree is a species of boxthorn, which usually reaches a height of two to five meters. While the thorns make the tree highly uncomfortable, its bush-like look helps to hide Crusoe while the thorns protect him from potential attackers. The tree served as the best possible makeshift shelter for Crusoe’s first night on the island.
"Get up into a thick bushy tree like a fir, but thorny… I went to the tree and getting up into it… cut me a short stick, like a truncheon, for my defence."
Wow! This blog looks just like my old one! It's on a entirely different subject but it has pretty much the same page layout and design. Outstanding choice of colors! decking handrail height
